This two-day meeting will provide policy workers and welfare inspectors of different EU member states to meet and share concerns and solutions regarding pig welfare legislation.
The meeting is open to invited member state officials and EURCAW staff only.
Delegates are invited from 6 countries in the Mediterranean region of the EU. It is the second meeting in a series of four regional meetings in 2019 and 2020 with member state representatives.
Objectives of the meeting are:
- to discuss technical and practical issues of the delegates choice with academics, practitioners or trainers;
- to meet the EURCAW staff and suggest ways EURCAW can be of service to the member states.

The EU Reference Centre for Animal Welfare (EURCAW) started on the first of January 2019. The centre is designated by the European Commission with the aim to support member states with technical knowledge on EU pig welfare legislation. EURCAW-Pigs is developing technical dossiers on key welfare issues, factsheets, lists of indicators to assess compliance and training materials.
